FORD GALLERY PDX
Dee’s piece below, Uncommon Common Sunflower, was juried into Ford Gallery PDX’s 2023 summer show titled Flower Power.
The original Sunflower image for this piece was digitally manipulated. It was obtained from the Biodiversity Heritage Library and is in the public domain. Many of the textures in the piece were accessed from the Smithsonian Institution Digital Collection. While creating this piece, it was Dee’s intention to produce a colorful work of art that felt celebratory while also using the (call to artist) opportunity to explore relationships between form, color and scale.
The framed work measures 21” x 20”x 1”. The print was commercially printed using archival inks and the highest quality archival paper. This piece was printed once and is not part of a limited series edition.
